Talk to them about it and try to allay thier fears. A night light is a fantastic idea, or bedside lamp with a book to read might help. Try the lamp for a while, graduate to the night light and put some glow in the dark stars on the walls, furniture and ceiling.

You could put on a night-light in their room. Another option would be to stay in the room, read a story and get out of the room when the kids are really sleepy. Let the kids know that you are nearby when they need you.

Start by turning the light out for a minute, then 5mins, 10, etc, with you at the switch, then have the child control the switch for longer periods.

You can get a "watching light" to be put into the room, and give them (or not) a cuddle toy or a cuddle blanket. Or you can start their night's sleep with you.
