Keep the dog resting as much as possible and off the affected limb so that no weight is put on it. This will speed up the healing and also prevent further injury and problems. Pain medication may be needed to make the dog a little more comfortable and to allow him to rest.

The vet can try to do surgery but this is prohibitavly expensive. You can try the equivalant of canine physical therapy, different excercises to strenghen supportative muscles, that should help.

One way to treat a pinched nerve in a dog is take them to a chiropractor that can be recommended by your vet. If you want to try something a little more unconventional, you can take them to an acupuncturist for treatment as well.

You dog needs to be put on cage rest. Keep your dog in a cage and as quiet as possible for a week and see if that helps.
