Question by  PallavJain (16)

What are the different kinds of antibiotics do you use for abscessed teeth?

If you have an abscessed tooth/teeth then the only thing that will work is having a root canal. Antibiotics don't work without that procedure being done.

You use amoxicillan, or penicillan, prescribed by your dentist to make the swelling go down. But I know gurgling warm salt water works great! Definitely get the tooth pulled after.

A broad spectrum antibiotic is preferred for an absceesed tooth. This can be any form of penicillin or the newer generation like amoxcillin. Patients allergic to penicillin, erthromycin can be given.
