Very useful is the plugin Rick Johnson Graffix Nudge Palette. With this plugin you can move the dash or the pattern point by point. If you want to have a multi tool box, I suggest you to get the Andrews Vector Plugins collection. Beside the multi tool box is has many other useful gadgets.
