The only solution after saving and closing with outlines was to copy the text box, paste into word or Pages, copy it again from there and pasting in illustrator. then delete the text with outlines

But it pastes into word as a picture. Then comes back into illustrator as the same outlined image.  add a comment

Yes, open your document in Acrobat and copyand paste text into Illustrator. Unfortunately it won't be in the same font but at least you can work with it. I just did it and it worked fine. I used the outlined text as a guide to match the new text.

If you have converted to outlines and saved and closed the file, the answer is no. If you have not closed the file, use CTRL-Z to "undo".

Yes we can undo the text outlines in Adobe Illustrator. There are two easy ways for that. Press the Ctrl+Z key for undo. That's a shortcut or just click the right mouse key and select the undo command.

If you haven't yet saved and closed the peice you wish to undo the text outline on, you should be able to undo it. If you have already saved and exited it does not look like there is a way to undo the text outline that you created unless you start over.

Copy the text to the clipboard. Run your function, delete the expanded items. Paste the copied text from the clipboard. You can also duplicate the text, create outlines and explode on the duplicate, then delete that when you are done.
