Problems with the spleen may be completely asymptomatic. If spleen problems do cause symptoms, you may have pain in the upper left quadrant of your abdomen which is where the spleen is located. The spleen can also cause symptoms by effecting the number of platelets in your body which can cause bleeding problems.

The spleen lies on the left side of the upper abdomen and if there are problems it may increase in size, producing a swelling in that area. A large spleen is often full of blood and may result in abnormal blood tests, particularly a decrease in the number of platelets (specialized cells that help blood to clot).

Spleens don't usually have problems unless something's going on, so your doctor needs to be involved from the start. If you're having pain or pressure, your spleen could be enlarged.

If you have a spleen problem you will have severe pain. Your spleen can be easily torn and you can have internal bleeding which presents itself as a rigid abdomen.

I would think you would have lots of pain and if the spleen is bleeding your blood pressure could be low. If you had an injury you could be having internal bleeding on the inside like a rupture spleen.
