What are some examples of basic exponential problems?

I think I know what that is referring to, but I need to make sure I know what that means before I sign up for a class.

1. growth rate of bacteria and viruses, forever growing at a factor of 5 or 10 or 50 with each generation unless they run out of food or room 2. radioactivity halving or more with each half-life

For example: if the bacteria in a culture double every hour, and they are initially 1000, how many will they be after 9 hours. Answer: 1000 x 2^9. In the same setting you could be given the initial and final number and be asked how many hours are needed.
