Modern reflex cameras have several automatic modes, but offer also to adjust all the settings yourself. The latter is interesting for (semi-) professional photographers. A reflex camera uses mirrors to allow you to see the scenery right through the lens, so you know exactly what the picture will look like.

Reflex cameras have a so called 'reflex mirror' that allows the user to see almost exactly the same image that will be actually captured, through the viewfinder.
