If your pump is running constantly it could be overloaded or that the float switch or level control has failed. whatever this will result in the pump eventually failing and must be checked out.

Not during a periodic wet time or even season. But if it seems to always be running you should evaluate the cost of installing a foundation drain.

It sounds like your sump pump float may be stuck and your pump will eventually burn itself out. I would replace it. However, if you have water running into the hole all the time, this will cause your sump pump to run constantly.

Yes. It could be too small for the amount of water that needs to be removed, or there could be a leak and it's constantly pumping the same water repeatedly.

Yes, this means your basement is constantly getting water in it. You may think about a backup sump pump in case one fails. Also worry about power outages
