No. Once the mucus plug is lost there is an increased chance of infection. Swimming in a chemically treated pool or sitting in a bathtub should be avoided in order to avoid bacteria.

Yes it is safe. The mucus plug is just the first line of defense protecting the baby. Once your membranes rupture, often referred to as your bag of waters, you and the baby are more prone to infections. It is not alright to swim or do similar activities after your membranes rupture.

I think swimming would be an excellent way to give yourself some exercise and have less weight to support from the baby. Though I do suggest before starting any exercise routine, especially when carrying a baby, to consult your doctor to see if it is alright for you to perform that routine. That is what you pay them for.

Your mucus plug will continue to rebuild itself during the pregnancy even if you lost it. Every few days it will rethicken, and if you will continue to lose it as you dilate during the end of the pregnancy so it is not uncommon to keep seeing it reappear. i would think swimming is okay.
