what you saw was not the same "mucous plug" you hear about with pregnancy. prior to and during ovulation there are hormone changes that will cause an increase in the amount and the viscosity of cervical mucous so do not be alarmed. do not overlook std's and a preg test

If you're not pregnant, you wont have a mucus plug. A mucus plug is the "cork" that blocks the cervical opening, and is only present if you are pregnant. It is normal for cervical mucous to increase in quantity leading up to ovulation, and will resemble egg whites in consistency and stretch easily between your fingers.
