How many miles will an automatic transmission last?

Honestly there is no way of knowing how long a transmission will last. If it was well maintained and not abused then I would imagine it could last at least 100,000 miles. The main thing that cause failure is abuse, heat, and improper maintenance.

There is no set amount. All trannys built after 1964 are suppose to last 100,000 miles. How its used and maintained are the deciding factors.

It depends on how wore out the transmision is. If you don't trust what your mechanic says have another one look at it. The person could be wrong. Your best bet is to get a second mechanic to look at it.

As we know an automatic transmission brings the power from the engine to the driver wheels. So, there is no concern about the life of an automatic transmission it can go many miles if properly driven and maintain it's nut behind the wheel.
