You need to open the computer's case and remove the cables and screws that are attached to the old cd drive. then simply put the new drive into the same place as the old one, putting all the screws back. reattach the cables to the new drive. done.

When you plug it to your PC its ready for reading CDs. For burning CDs you should install CD Burning Software, i recommend Nero Burning ROM 9. Your CD burner should work now. Some operating systems have their own simple software for burning CDs (Windows XP & 7).
