How do you get a passport?

Is it harder since 9-11?

You can still get a passport through the post office. They have applications and agents there check documentation for you. Private passport services are an expensive option. Passports are required for travel to Mexico and Canada. Since more people need them, it takes longer but it's not harder since 9-11.

Getting a passport depends on where you live, and yes, it is harder since 9-11. You have to provide your social security, birth certificate, current address, etc to your local post office. You'll have to pay a fee, mine cost $70, then get your picture taken.
