How do I replace a starter motor on a Mitsubishi Eclipse?

Answer by  thattractorguy (2970)

Open the hood and remove the battery and battery tray. You'll see the starter. Remove the wires and the two bolts that hold it on. Installation is removal in reverse.

First, disconnect the battery leads. Next, raise the vehicle up. The starter motor will be on the bottom of the intake side of the engine (generally the side closest to the firewall. Disconnect the electrical leads, and unbolt. Installation is reverse of disassembly.

You will need to get the replacement part, a dealer would be the best place. You'll have to locate the starter, it will be adjacent to the engine itself. Remove the old starter and replace.
