A proper size aquarium is recommended; allow each adult fish at least seven gallons of water. Goldfish get big, produce lots of waste, and can live many years. Change at least 25% of water a week in the aquarium. Frequent small meals are recommended, both flakes and veggies on occasion.

The fish should be kept in tanks that are at least 10 gals with air pumps or stones. Accessorizing the tank with plants, objects and stones would give the fish something to do. Goldfish are not territorial but don't put too many together for stress reasons.
