For best results you should have two female fish for every one male fish. One variety of molly, Sphenops, grows to about two inches in length, while other species of mollies grow on average to six inches in length. There is one interesting looking molly that is white or silver with black spots called a dalmatian which looks like the dog

Mollies are extremely easy and peaceful fish to care for. They are community tank fish meaning they get along with all peaceful tank mates. Mollies are live bearers and readily spawn in aquariums giving birth to live fry. You can feed them dry flake or frozen foods. If a male and female are in the tank they will breed.

Make sure that you have an appropriate number of fish divided appropriately between genders (3-1 females-males) for you tank. Remember that fish will need approximately one gallon of water per inch of fish. Your mollies grow to be about 3 inches long, and therefore will need at least 3 gallons of water each. Provide quality food, hiding spots, and temperature.

Mollys are a tropical fish and are generally peaceful. They require warm water 75-82 degrees. They should be fed twice a day and like to be in groups.

I just set up my new 10 gallon tank. I am going to get some Molly fish. At Petsmart they said that my tank is big enough. Also I have the salt for freshwater fish. Every time I clean the tank taking out 25% water. I've never used aquarium salt for my fish and they seem to be fine.

Mollies are great starter fish. They will live best with a heater and filter, but I've kept ones in just a normal bowl. Just feed them and they'll be fine.
