Can you reuse a 500ml bottle that has had chemicals in it?

This would depend entirely on what the bottle is made from as well as what sort of chemicals were stored in it and for how long. Glass and aluminium bottles can be safely cleaned and reused, but plastic bottles may have reacted with the chemicals unpredictably, so it is not recommended to reuse them.

In theory, you should be able to reuse a bottle that previously held chemicals as long as it's been washed properly. For this I'd recommend using a simple solution of warm water and dish soap. Of course it also depends on the toxicity of the former chemical resident as well as if the bottle itself is porous.
