Are smoking bans for public places a good thing?

I wonder how much business is affected.

I believe it is a good thing depending on the location. For example, I work at a hospital and smoking near the vacinity is strictly prohibited. Now, if it is a grocery store I see how the business could be affected. I believe smoking should be prohibited everywhere. Secondhand smoke is HORRIBLE!!

As a non-smoker i would say yes, there is nothing worse in the world than walking past people who are standing outside their office or workplace having a cigarette. Not only because of the smell but the health implications too. Passive smoking is a huge killer all around the world.

Yes because the dangers of second hand smoke are well documented, and it causes most of the same diseases to the person breathing second hand smoke as to the one smoking. Also if you ban smoking in public places it helps smokers stop smoking or at least limits their smoking.

It has been proven that second hand inhaling of smoke can cause problems, so most cities are banning smoking in public places. The ban hurts business at certain establishments, like bars, but overall the ban helps the second hand smoke problem.
