The point of an interview is to get an idea of the person's best qualities. Your potential employee will not have any interest in answering this honestly.

It is asking potential employees to state something bad about themselves. This can create a negative impression of the individual, even if they are wholly qualified for the job. It risks an in depth discussion of one's personal life, personal beliefs, or family status, which risks violating Equal Employment law.

Well it is a very cliché question and one that most job-seekers have a an answer already prepared. Because of that it doesn't have the same value in showing how the persons thinks on his feet, ad it seldom shed light on the personality of the job seeker in question.

Because nobody is ever going to be honest about their worst personality trait, and it's difficult for a lot of people to self judge.

This question is unfair to the person being interviewed because if they are honest, then the information can be used as a reason to not hire them, and being dishonest also makes them look bad.
