Why don't all keyboards have number pads?

Some keyboards save space and components by removing the number pads. These are called "compact keyboards." A "full keyboard" will have a number pad. Laptops more frequently have compact keyboards, while desktops usually have full keyboards.

the number one reason why a keyboard does not have a number pad is because of a space issue. for example most laptops do not have number pads

Keyboards are different types. Some of the keyboard in the market has no number pads, because, the keyboard's manufactures want to decrease its size for easy use. And they provide a key like 'Fn'. Its function key. With this key we can use the number pads on other keys.
