Ribs generaly are unfirm in appearnce and structure. A rib that sticks out more than others, could indicate a fracture. If no pain is present, a left rib that sticks out could indicate a rib that healed improperly. Get it checked right away, as a broken rib can penetrate a lung or the spleen

This may be a sign of scoliosis or curvature of the spine but minor asymmetry is normal for the human body.

Your left rib is that way because your left lung is that way. The purpose of the ribs is to encause the lungs and heart. The right lung is divided into 2 chambers. The heart goes tward the left, which makes that lung longer and have 3 chambers.

Odds are there is no reason to be concerned about one side of your rib cage protruding more than the other. Most people have a more prodominant protrusion on one side. If you are seriously concerned, seek medical advice.

It is possible you have scoliosis, a disorder that makes the spine crooked and therefore can push the ribs to uneven levels. It is a good idea to see a doctor and get tested.

Many body parts are slightly asymmetrical. This can make one side of a body part appear larger. You would know feel pain if it you had a broken rib.
