Why do I count everything?

This could just be a habit. However, if it's excessive and interferes with your daily functioning, you should see a professional. You may have obsessive compulsive disorder.

You could very well have an undiagnosed case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Some people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, known as OCD, tend to count things over and over or count everything they see. They can also have to eat things in groups or having things in a certain order. They will count their possessions and often know when somethings missing.
