To the best of my knowledge, the only medical personnel legally allowed to administer injections are physicians, licensed ARNPs, RNs, and physician's assistants. Administration of injections is a very delicate procedure and requires expertise and state licensing.

Injections and immunizations can be administered by any of a number of health professionals--a doctor or a nurse practitioner, a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse. Individuals who are not otherwise trained can also learn to give shots to themselves or to their children, for example diabetics who need insulin.

A Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse can give injections. Also, a pharmacist who has special training and authorization can give shots (such as flu and pneumonia shots.) Of course, doctors and RNs can give them. It all comes down to special training and licensure. CNAs and med techs cannot give them.

This depends on the state which you are referring to. Different states have different requirements on who can give shots. This also depends on what type of injection is being given. Generally, LPN's can give injections in most states, with the exception of some cardiac units. Some injections also require an RN to supervise.

RNs can give all kinds of shots. LPNs can give some, such as vaccines. Insulin-dependent diabetics, and in some cases, their family members, give the insulin shots.

An injection may be given by either a physician, dentist, nurse, nurse practitioner and some physicians' assistants, depending on their qualifications.

You have to be a licensed nurse in order to give shots. You can be a RN or a LPN in order to do this. Doctors can too but they don't usually do it.
