The best plan of attack is to narrow down the choices by making a list of your personal requirements (storage space, seating, MPG, safety ratings, price, etc.) Once you have narrowed down your options, do more research on your top choices, eventually test drive your top choices if you can.

I recommend looking into these types of Suv's and they range in price. They are the Ford Edge, Nissan Murano, Toyota FJ Cruiser, and Buick Enclave.

The mid-sized SUV is the way to go if you are unsure. A Honda polite is something that I would recommend for its overall function and gas milage that has served me very well. Make sure if you are buying a used car that you get throughly checked out, and if possible go for a car that luxury.

In my own opinion there really is no good suv. Suvs are less useful version of a truck and a more expensive version of a wagon.

It really depends on what you want to do. For simple people hauling, look at a crossover vehicle (think Mercedes Benz R class). If you're looking to go off road, it's hard to beat a Wrangler. If you're looking for offroad luxury, look at the Toyota Landcruiser (or Lexus).
