Backscratchers are nice because when you're alone, it reaches in parts of your back you normally can't reach. However, nails are the master when it comes to relief.
When you have an elusive itch the human touch is preferable. So the opinion is nails are much better than backscratchers, even though you can control a backscratcher more than someone with nails.
