I like the Dummies series of books and would recommend "Grant Writing for Dummies" even though the latest edition was published in December 2008. The titles in this series are written by experts in their field. Beginners to grant writing will find everything they need and experts will also benefit.

The best book on how to get a grant is one that explains in detail how run down appropriate sources of funding for legitimate projects AND explains in detail how to write the grant proposal in an effort to secure a grant. Books that promise lists of "free money" are a waste of time and money.
