Well if you are referring to the Oldsmobile "Rocket" engine then it was introduced in 1949.IT would continue to be produced in carbureted form up until 1990. The Oldsmobile Rocket 350 V8 was in production from 1968 through 1980. Those produced before 1976 were more heavy-duty than those produced after.

The first production of 350 Oldsmobile productions was started from 1968 through 1980. The early Oldsmobile 350s was produced from 1968 to 1976. These engines were made by heavy castings, crankshafts and flowing heads. Later, these engines from 1977 to 1980 were made by light weight casting.
