What should I know about the transmission of a VW Passat?

I would have the dealership do transmission work. I can't even begin to give you advice without knowing if it's an automatic or manual.

If it is an automatic transmission you can add transmission oil, other than that it should be taken to a qualified transmission repair specialist. Transmission are incredibly complicated and hard to work on. If it is a manual, you can add oil or change the clutch pads, Other than that a specialist would be best
