This often depends on your pool type, however, typically, you would drain the water to roughly half, put in chemical and cover with a tarp. The pool manufacturer may be the best source for advice on how to close your pool for the winter. Also you may check with the dealer.

First, you tell everyone to get out of your pool. Then, you empty all of the water out. Then you tell everyone to stop coming to your pool. If you are talking about billiards, then the same applies. But you must also take away all of the cues and pool balls.

First get the chemical make of up your pool from your pool dealer. Then shock the pool and vaccum the pool completely. Then follow the recommended chemical adding from your dealer to balance the chlorine levels for the winter. Then let the pump run for a few hours. Check levels again. Cover and leave pump running.

There are pool closing kits you can buy at a pool store or a big box store. Definitely make sure you shock the pool and drain some water from it.

Drain the water. Remove the diving board and steps, if any. Clean the inside, including sweeping out leaves. Put on the cover.

The best way to close a pool for winter is to drain it and place a tarp over the top. Be sure to completely drain the pool so the water does not freeze.
