What should I do for my pregnant cichlid?

The best practice to follow when dealing with pregnant fish is to keep them in isolation. Obtain quarantine structure manufactured with mess siding that attached to the inside of your aquarium. After installation carefully move the fish into the structure. This will keep the baby fish isolated from the other fish in the aquarium that most likely would eat them.

If other cichlids are in the aquarium the cichlid should be isolated as they will eat the young when they are born. Your pregnant cichlid should have some grass, either artificial or real and many hiding places to allow the babies to hide when they are born. If you can not separate the mother, she should be removed.

Get a in tank breeder box and keep her alone in it.If she has the baby's swimming in her mouth already isolate her.Soon as she spit's them all out move her fast or she will collect them all in her mouth again.A small 5 gallon tank will do.

Usually it's best to leave it alone, however it helps to have plenty of hiding places around the tank so that they can feel a bit safer. It may also helpto keep the female and babies away from the others, as these fish are aggressive and will eat their young.

Give her as much responsibility as possible to help her mature quickly. Make sure she takes care of her own baby because it's time for her to grow up.

you should leave them alone and make sure the light goes no where and the water temp stays the same also i would keep them away form other fish as they will eat there young to save them
