Polymenorrhea can be treated by daily contraceptive pills to regularize periods and bleeding. Sometimes adjusting diet and dealing with stress and anxiety can help this condition. However, you should be tested for underlying conditions such as endometriosis. This condition is more common with menopausal women than women of childbearing age.

The first line treatment after ruling out pregnancy is to try a trial of oral contraceptives, or estrogen. It is not expensive and often does the trick.

Polymenorrhea is having cycles with fewer that 21 days intervals. Sometimes no treatment is needed, but progesterone is used attempting to prolong the cycle. Sometimes the cause is brain related.

Often times a doctor would use oral contraceptives (birth control pill) to manage polymenorrhea. As always it is best to seek advice from your medical doctor.

A common treatment for abnormal bleeding is to use a hormonal birth control method. Depending on the cause, a D&C (dilation and curettage) may be necessary.
