Hyperemesis, or persistent vomiting, may lead to dehydration and malnutrition. The treatment is usually intravenous nutrition to provide both fluids and nutrients. A dry mouth may be soothed by sucking on hard candies or ice chips. Sometimes clear liquids, such as jello or popsicles, are tolerated in small amounts.

Since this can cause severe dehydration, antiemetic medications and intravenous rehydration may be needed. Also, nutritional support can be required.

Some at home remedies that you may try are, drinking a cola drink that has gone flat, drink some peppermint tea, or try some ginger ale. You can get some compazine or zofran from your Doctor. Depending on the cause, laying down with an icepack can also work.

To combat nausea, it is suggested that you eat a soda cracker or two. Drink a lot of fluids in periods when you are not vomiting. Also eat small meals.
