Seafood restaurants routinely serve lobster tail and provide tools for cracking the shell and instructions on how to retrieve the meat. Some places serve lobster tail already cracked or open so you can easily pull the meat out with a fork. If you're uncomfortable, ask someone else at your table to crack the shell.
