What is the difference between descriptive and exploratory research?

The methods differ in the questions that are asked, flexibility and how they are researched. Exploratory research focuses more on answering open ended questions, descriptive is to the point.

Descriptive research defines what is being studied, such as average size, chemical composition, population count, habitat, and habits. Exploratory research affects cause and effect, studying multiple variables across different samples to discover relationships between variables.

In descriptive reasearch you just observe without intervering with your subject. Explorator research you intervere to find out more information.
