The best treatment, which is not as painful as other options, is Surgery (Cyrosurgery) - This kind of surgery is used for many skin diseases and is not that painful or invasive. The treatment involves using extreme cold to take care of the issue with the skin. Any pain experienced can generally be alleviated through aspirin.

You should consult a dermatologist to determine the correct course of action for your sunspots. Avoid over exposure to the sun in the mean time.

There is considerable debate on the best treatment options but the common theme among all sources is that the lesions should be removed. curettage or shave excision is a very effective treatment and has the benefits of minimal scaring and leaves tissue that can be examined by pathologists to gauge whether or not the tissue is cancerous or not.
