What is the average pay for comedians?

I would like to be a comedian but my mom keeps telling me there is no money in it.

In the entertainment industry, there is no such thing as "average. " There is no "average" pay and no "average" set of hours, or "average" success rate. It varies greatly.

It all depends on the venture and the gigs one gets. I know from what I've read in magazines many up & coming comedians make about $200-$400 a venture and show. If it's a more popular gig like Improv etc they can pay $1000 a pop.

Comedians that bring in large audiences, like Seinfeld or Rosie O'Donnell, make millions. Others are paid by the hour for performing amidst serving drinks and food.

its by the gig comedians start out making nothing. you got to build up in the comedy world. when you do start to get paid it could be between 30-200 a gig the only way to get big and make bigger bucks is to improve. its a hard life
