After determining the deceased's financial affairs the application for probate is filed. It usually takes about one month for the Grant to be released from the Probate Registry.

It seems that things have gotten well in hand since Jarndyce v Jarndyce... The outside length of probate in the Her Majesty's Court seems to be 24 months, with most being settled within 4-6 months without contesting as an issue. If contested, consult your solicitor.

The average length is about the normal length that you are used to seeing for a probate in the UK. If you have never been to one, then you simply must. It was quite the show. There is not much to see but it is a nice way to spend your time.

You should expect to wait about three to nine months. The length can vary depending on the complexity of the will.
