Usually teeth chattering is a symptom of the body being too cold. The body will start to shake and the teeth will shake as well. The body naturally does this to try and create movement that will warm itself up. The chattering will stop when the core body temperature warms up.

Teeth chattering especially during sleep is suggestive of some type of worm infestation with pinworm, hookworm, tapeworm, Tinea saginata, Tinea solium, anchylostomiosis, echinococcus etc. Get stool examined pathologically for ova and cysts for identification of worm and take a full deworming course of treatment from your Physician.

Teeth chattering is not a serious issue and it is just because of shivering. Eventhough it is said to be caused because of any neurological issues and obesity. In order to cope with the body temperature the body reacts to the external environment to adjust. This adjustment results in shivering a lot.

My mother has teeth chattering with body tremors episodes every few months that no doctor has been able to diagnose. They come on unexpectedly and last 24 hours or less. All testing has come back negative. What do you think may cause it?
