Microgestin is prescribed for prevention of pregnancy, treatment of hypermenorrhea, endometriosis, female hypogonadism. Your friend may be having either of all this issues.

Microgestin is used to prevent pregnancy and may regulate women's menstrual cycles. This drug does not prevent HIV infection and is not effective in preventing other STD's.
