Rain-diverters are usually installed on your down-spout(s) above the height of your-rain-water-storage-tank; or other-diversion(s) for lanscaping-irrigation, ponds, or (swimming)pools. Carefully remove or cut-off some down-spout from the ground-up to-or-above that-height; Push the rain-diverter OVER the remaining-down-spout above; Measure how-much to cut-off the down-spout-section which you removed; cut-off; and push the down-spout OVER the rain-diverter (& INTO your-drain). Fasten-together with screws.

Well, to divert the rain, you have to make a pipe that has to be specifically sorted for the diverter. This requires a lot of time. I recommend you get someone to make it for you.

Cut off the down spot at a height just below the height of a water collector such as a whiskey barrel or 50 gallon drum. Reattach the bottom of the down spot at the new height to direct it into the bucket to gather the rain water. To eliminate evaporation the barrel should have a cover.
