If you're using stoneware, you'll need to get it fired professionally in a kiln. There is also air dry clay avalible that does not need to be fired.

Go to your craft store, there are new clay products that you can air dry, bake in oven. Otherwise your would need to purchase a kiln that would be very costly.

You will need a kiln (oven) to fire clay at an extremely high heat for making pottery. This clay needs to be glazed before firing or after, or both.

There are new products on the market that need no firing. There's air drying, a product called Sclulpey and fimo. Then painted. If you go on google you will find how to make your own kiln for home use. Firing is expensive if you have someone else do it.
