What is causing my birds beaks to peel?

My birds have peeling beaks.

This is usually normal, much like a fingernail the beak grows and peels a bit. Only babies have that shiny perfect beak. If you start noticing the beak growing mishaped or actual "holes" then you can see a vet, otherwise slightly peeling look is normal.

Some amount of peeling is normal. Ensure that the birds have a cuttlebone to chew on and toys they can safely chew. If in doubt, ask your vet.

Their diet is probably lacking in amino acid methionine. Sesame seeds and brazil nuts will help your bird get this necessary nutrient. You can add some to their regular mix.

It is natural for birds beaks to grow over time however a poor diet can cause it to grow in excess and peel or become too long.
