Graduated denial is a legal term used when someone has financial troubles and is being hounded by debt collection agencies. An example would be if the credit company says you owe a certain amount of money; you either accept or deny that statement. Then the credit company moves on to the next statement. Again, you deny or accept that statement.

A graduated denial is a legal form presented to a Plaintiff, forcing it to prove the claim its made. An example of a graduated denial would be a bank taking you to court with the claim that money was owed, and the graduated denial would ask the bank and its legal representation to prove the claim.

It is denying every challenge to the validity of an argument. Example: someone who owes money denies the debt. When the contract is shown, they deny that it is a valid contract. When the contract is proved valid, they claim it's been paid and isn't owed in full. When you say they haven't paid, they say you lost the forms.

First, denying the obligation. Then denying the validity of the obligation. Finally, disputing the correctness of the amount of the obligation.
