What is a good guideline for garage sale pricing?

I don't want to price things too low but I want things to sell.

Check the prices of similar items already sold on eBay to see what people are prepared to pay. If you can, also have a look around other local sales.

Look up the stuff you have on Ebay, see what the average price is for the same item in that condition generally is. Price it the same, if it doesn't sell then lower a bit towards the end of the day and see what happens. At least that is what I would personally do.

I find that if I price the items considering what I would pay for them if I were going to buy the item is a good place to start.

When having a garage sale keep most items in a very reasonable price range, especially clothes, books and toys. If the item is not a designer item, collectible or antique make it about one fourth of the purchase price. For more desirable items, compare with items going on ebay.

At our garage sale, the pricing of items was about 25% of replacement cost and as the day progressed, items can be marked down again, depending on how badly you want to move the item.
