Fruits that will ripen after they have been picked include bananas, peaches, pears, plums, nectarines, kiwi and cantaloupe. If you put them in a brown bag, they will ripen faster.

Pears and peaches ripen off the vine, but only if they are not picked too early. Bananas also ripen off the vine, and they can be picked while they are still quite green. Avocados and tomatoes (yes, they are both fruits! ) ripen off the vine; in fact, an avocado will only finish ripening after it is picked.

Yes but a lot slower. To speed up the ripening process it's best to store the fruit in a paper bag in room temp.
