What do people like about Spongebob Squarepants?

Spongebob Squarepants is a fun show to watch, uses friendly, non threatening or violent characters that engage in simple tasks, humorously. The show is really just a great way to escape from reality for a little while and just take a break from things, to take your mind off of any troubles you might have in real life.

People like it because Spongebob represents an everyday guy. He has no powers or special abilities. He is just an all-round good guy. Plus he is so so so cute. It is so foreign that a guy could be a sponge that he is appealing. Also the square shape is unique.

First I think the character has an appeal for everyone, because of the way he is dressed. Second he has a sense of humor that appeals to children and adults. The writers make a good story which holds everyone interest and usually a moral to the story. This is right up their with Big Bird.

I like watching Spongebob with my daughter because it teaches acceptance, how to be a good friend, and why keeping promises and being honest are important things to do. I'm not thrilled about the merchandising that goes with the show, but the show itself is great!

Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick are the epitomy of inoccence. They will tell you themselves,"I'm stupid". Its my daughters favorite line. That annoying little laugh of Spongebob cracks everyone up. And who doesn't know by heart the introductory song for the show. Watching Spongebob flip his crabbycakes always leaves me laughing.

This question has been bothering me as well. My kids like it because they don't care what they watch or like - they are quite small and will like anything that repeats itself on TV, and is available in merchandise in stores - so really go figure, but the cartoon can be quite funny or at least weird at times.
