What do I do if my computer will not reformat from a recovery cd?

If your computer will not reformat with the recovery CD, I would recommend doing a clean install. Unfortunately, this means you will lose everything that was on that hard drive, if it was not backed up. If you simply want to reformat, then use a Windows XP or Windows 7 install disk, and boot from the CD.

You can get on another computer and transfer the recovery disks onto a flash drive. Then you do the same process and it should work. I had this same problem and i just made sure to put the disks on my usb flashdrive and that was just the thing i needed to fix my lapotop. good luck!

if you want to format your hard drive then don't use a recovery cd format hard with a windows cd windows 7 or xp cd's are prefable and format whole drive is preferred
