I would not worry about the worms in the filter. We always get an accumulation of red worms, and I just wash them out gently. They are the larvae of insects so they appear seasonally. But they never appear close to the water, which means the fish finish them off quickly.

Worms find their way into everything. Personally I don't worry about worms in my water filter. The fish and aquatic life you have in your pond will eat these worms. Consider them part of the food chain of your impending ecosystem you have created. All ponds become a habitat for unwanted life.

I guess you could try calling an exterminator and see what they say. Even if they can't help you they may know of someone who could. The other thing you could try doing is call the company who made the pond filter.

Avoiding words in your pond can be accomplished in several ways. First, worms have access to the pond. You can use landscape rock to border your pond blocking the worms.
