You lower abdomen has arteries and a lot of blood flow, so there is a pulsing of the blood running to the area. With this, there often feels like a heartbeat in the area.

The most likely reason for the feeling of heartbeat in your lower abdomen would be what is termed an abdominal aortic aneurysm, which is a bulge in the main vessel that carries blood from your heart. See your physician immediately, this is usually treatable.

Digestive movments in the abdomen could be present and mis-interpreted as a heart beast since the intestines are always moving.

You may feel like heart beat in your lower abdomen because you are not able to differentiate the two sides of the diaphram properly. Even otherwise you can feel the pulse at many parts of your body.
